Werner Herzog's mesmerizing documentary chronicles the creation of the Kalachakra sand mandala, a magnificent, intricate work of art constructed in a meticulous ritual through which Tibetan Buddhist monks complete their ordination. The fragile, delicate work, taking place over 12 days in India, is followed by the mandala's total destruction, as the sands that make up the "wheel of time" are scattered as a spiritual blessing.
